Lorsque l'on utilise RDC sur mac on remarque souvent que si le clavier local est considéré comme "Belgian French", le mapping à travers la connexion RDC se fait en US (EN). Extrêmement pénible lorsque l'on utilise cela régulièrement... et bien ce n'est pas un bug mais le fait qu'il n'y a pas de détection très évoluée du keyboard dans le logiciel même... mais plutôt un mapping "forcé" ;)

Let me drop in a quick note here as I contributed to the spec on the keyboard layout functionality. This is one feature that I really wanted to see fixed since RDC 1.0 since I use a French Canadian keyboard layout and it resulted in either defaulting to French in Windows or US mapping.

Ideally, we would have liked to support all keyboard layouts supported in the International System Preferences. But technically, we cannot detect all the different physical keyboard types connected to the Mac. We can only get three different keyboard types: English, ISO, and JIS. ISO corresponds to all European keyboards. What we are doing now is: if we detect an ISO keyboard, we use IME setting on the Mac to set keyboard mapping between the Mac and Windows.

Each keyboard had to be mapped manually - by brute force – because of time constraint, we couldn't support all the keyboards so we needed to decide which keyboard to support so, as released, here are the keyboard layout supported:

Mac British mapped to Windows British
Mac Dutch -> Windows Dutch
Mac Italian -> Windows Italian
Mac Italian pro -> Windows Italian
Mac French -> Windows French
Mac French Swiss -> Windows French Swiss
Mac French Canadian -> Windows French Canadian
Mac Germany -> Windows Germany
Mac Germany Swiss -> Windows Germany Swiss
Mac Swedish -> Windows Swedish
Mac Swedish pro -> Windows Swedish
Mac Spanish -> Windows Spanish International
Mac Spanish ISO -> Windows Spanish International

If an unsupported keyboard value is selected on the Input Menu, RDC will default to US English setting. It can then be changed on the Windows side

Although, not all keyboard configuration are supported, we are in a much better position than we were in RDC 1.0!"

J'ai testé avec succès le package dellomsa_5.4.0 fourni sur ftp://ftp.sara.nl/pub/sara-omsa/dists/dell/sara/binary-i386/ avec Ubuntu 8.04.1 (hardy)... Il faut juste installer en plus le package openipmi.

VMware Server 2.0rc1 semble déjà beaucoup plus stable...
Par contre le vmware remote console plugin pour Firefox ne fonctionne que sous Linux et Windows...

Mais le support VNC est toujours existant, il suffit d'ajouter les paramètres suivant pour la machine virtuelle concernée:
RemoteDisplay.vnc.port = xxxx
RemoteDisplay.vnc.password = xxxx
RemoteDisplay.vnc.enabled = true

Si vous utilisez le client VPN Cisco (logiciel) sur MacOSX, vous aurez sans doute remarqué que l'erreur suivante arrive régulièrement:
"Error 51: Unable to communicate with the VPN subsystem".

Pour solutionner, en shell:
sudo /System/Library/StartupItems/CiscoVPN/CiscoVPN restart

J'ai rencontré quelques problèmes pour exécuter vmware-server-console sur une ubuntu 8.04 (hardy) après une installation à partir du .tar.gz fourni sur www.vmware.com.

En fait des problèmes par rapport à certaines librairies fournies par vmware...

La solution:
# cd /usr/lib/vmware-server-console/lib/libgcc_s.so.1
# mv libgcc_s.so.1 libgcc_s.so.1.orig
# cd ../libpng12.so.0
# mv libpng12.so.0 libpng12.so.0.orig

Pour info, après avoir utilisé l'archive officielle de vmware server 1.0.5 sur une distribution linux possédant un kernel 2.6.24*, vous remarquerez des erreurs de compilation...

Pour résoudre ce problème, télécharger ce patch: vmware-any-any-update-116.tgz

Ensuite:
# tar zxvf vmware-any-any-update-116.tgz
# cd vmware-any-any-update116
# sudo ./runme.pl

Et là vous pourrez de nouveau refaire un "vmware-config.pl".

ocsinventory-agent et ubuntu 8.04 (hardy)

J'ai remarqué que le package ocsinventory-agent (0.0.8) fourni avec ubuntu 8.04 (hardy) posait problème à son installation... un bug a été soumis, le problème est connu et devrait être résolu...

En attendant, j'ai backporté ubuntu-agent 0.0.9.2 de Debian Sid.

Je l'ai mis en ligne sur pkgs.dogmanet.com.

Utilisable en ajoutant dans votre source.list:
deb http://pkgs.dogmanet.com/ubuntu hardy main multiverse restricted universe

Cisco VPN Client sous Linux (kernel 2.6.24.x)

J'ai rencontré quelques problèmes au départ pour utiliser le client vpn cisco sous Linux (tests réalisés sous Ubuntu 8.04 et la version 4.8.01.0640-k9 du client ).

Il faut en fait appliquer un patch afin de pouvoir installer ce client fourni par cisco avec un kernel 2.6.24.x.

Etapes:
1. Téléchargement du client via le site de Cisco.
2. Téléchargement du patch pour le kernel.
2. Décompresser l'archive:
$ tar zxvf vpnclient-linux-x86_64-4.8.01.0640-k9.tar.gz
3. Appliquer le patch:
$ cd vpnclient
$ patch < vpnclient-linux-2.6.24-final.diff
4. Lancer l'installation (avec les options par défaut):
$ sudo ./vpn_install
5. Une fois l'installation terminée:
$ sudo /etc/init.d/vpnclient_init start

Pas mal d'info sur ce site.

Quelques premiers tests en cours...

Première remarque, pas moyen de voir la console ou même les détails d'une machine virtuelle sous Firefox (2 ou 3b5) sous MacOSX 10.5.x
La console ne fonctionne pas avec Safari mais bien le reste... (en fait, juste l'impossibilité d'installer le plugin).
Pas moyen de se connecter avec Opera 9.x.

I was searching on the web to find a method to split a line directly in bash... and I found some interesting information... it seems that bash has some string handling functions, an example:
